About Us

WE ARE PARENTS WHO HAVE A PASSION FOR DRIVING AUTOMOBILES.
WE ARE FATHERS WHO LOVE OUR FAMILIES.
WE ARE SPEEDY DADDY.
Most parents think that having kids relegates them to a life with a rolling appliance when it comes to selecting a family car. That’s just not necessary (not even if you’re thinking about getting a minivan). We want to help all of you Speedy Daddies and Speedy Mommies to continue finding your bliss once the true loves of your life are riding shotgun, and to pass on your love of cars and driving to the next generation. All we ask is one huge favor — don’t exercise the car when the kids are aboard.
WHAT IS A “SPEEDY DADDY” CAR?
- It must have a base sticker price of less than $60,000.
- It must be capable of seating four passengers (two adults and two children).
- It must earn top safety marks.
- It must be fun to drive.
ABOUT MICHAEL HARLEY
Michael Harley has been driving, studying, reviewing, and photographing cars since he was legally licensed. After selling cars over summer during his university study (to make payments on his first new car), he spent more than a decade with a manufacturing importing/exporting company before leaving and founding Schnell Auto, Inc. in Southern California. Today, Mike is a professional automotive journalist (he is West Coast Editor for Autoblog, among others), an experienced photographer, and part owner of GSR Autosport. He fuels his automotive passion by tracking a race-prepared Porsche Boxster and as a driving instructor with the Porsche Owners Club.
ABOUT LIZ KIM
Liz Kim never set out to become an automotive journalist. Following graduation from Georgetown University with a Master of Arts degree, Liz landed an editorial assistant position at Edmunds.com and began combining her command of the English language with her sarcastic wit and love of pop culture to inform and entertain car buyers. As much “fun” as she had testing cars for consumer reviews, Liz elected to try her hand at marketing, and created the “It’s What Makes a Subaru, a Subaru” advertising tagline. Today, Liz is a stay-at-home mom but continues to contribute on both the marketing and consumer editorial sides of the business. Oh, and she’s married to this guy…
ABOUT CHRISTIAN WARDLAW
Christian Wardlaw’s first spoken word was “car.” His parents swear by it. A car fanatic his entire life, but a rare one who is more passionate about the cars people actually buy than he is the cars they dream about, Chris began his automotive career selling cars at Camelback Ford in Phoenix after graduating from the prestigious Western Michigan University with an English and Journalism degree. He left that auto sales position to pursue a career with Edmund Publications Corporation, developing content for Edmunds.com when it launched in the mid-1990s and becoming the first Editor-in-Chief of that website. Since then, Chris has served in editorial leadership roles with Autobytel, J.D. Power and Associates, and Vehix. His calling in life? To help people find the right car to fit their needs.
